CTO-Left Main 2013 – Live Cases in New York City, and blizzards in Kansas!

Feb 23, 2013February 23, 2013 - Med-Scene, L.L.C. just competed three days of successful live case transmissions for the "Chronic Total Occlusion - Left Main" (CTO-LM) of 2013. The meeting was held in New York City at the Marriott Marquis Hotel on February 21 to 23. All live cases were in High Definition and were featured out of three separate transmission sites: Columbia University Presbyterian Hospital in New York City, Mid-American Heart Institute at Saint Luke's Hospital in Kansas City, and Piedmont Heart Institute in Atlanta.

Each day featured four hours of live cases from each transmission site, in addition to two half-hour transmissions prior to each case discussing the procedures and issues related to them. The meeting was successful technically, but also in the length and depth of the discussion that took place by the faculty and attendees before, during and after the live cases.

The transmission out of the Mid-American Heart Institute was successful despite a major degree of difficulty: A blizzard that dropped up to 14-inches of snow on Kansas City by the end of the final transmission. Between transmissions, the satellite truck operate had to clean snow off the dish to ensure connectivity with the meeting!
